Brilliant and so true!

My stance was going to be that all authors pay for official tours, whether by a service like Brook Cottage (or myself but I am very new at this!) or through the fees they pay to their publishing company. The work put into the tours by either a publishing house or a freelancer is absolutely no different, other than a freelancer will probably do the majority of their organisation out of office hours!!!

I really this post, I may share it on my blog if that's ok?

xEmma Mitchellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11048725754681074875noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1147246403168148714.post-41405485890714133032015-04-05T22:54:58.767+01:002015-04-05T22:54:58.767+01:00Sorry meant book tour. I know Readers' Favorite take payment for reviews, but that pertains to how fast the author needs the review, so they pay for an 'express review' rather than the review itself. The reviewers are still urged to be honest. It's a huge and like you said, emotive debate. I think there's a difference in paying a company for a service, as opposed to paying some chap off an internet group $10+ for a personal review. I've never done a blog tour so it's good to hear how it works.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10746680433890159371noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1147246403168148714.post-62323517778893986432015-04-05T10:04:36.511+01:002015-04-05T10:04:36.511+01:00Thanks so much for your fantastic comments guys. x...Thanks so much for your fantastic comments guys. xDeedee https://www.blogger.com/profile/02592264691785495222noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1147246403168148714.post-61524649599513524022015-04-05T08:55:02.108+01:002015-04-05T08:55:02.108+01:00We have only been involved in a couple of book tou...We have only been involved in a couple of book tours. The amount paid to the organiser was nowhere near the amount deserved. You guys are great to do all you do and I so appreciate it. And to the reviewers who are also awesome. I'd never pay for reviews just because it seems wrong and if someone was being paid would they really be honest. Just doesn't seem right. Great post.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04455538407425866894noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1147246403168148714.post-43091534154420615272015-04-05T03:24:48.358+01:002015-04-05T03:24:48.358+01:00Thanks so much for sharing your perspective of the...Thanks so much for sharing your perspective of the book tour organizer. I am contacted often for reviews and for the most part authors are very respectful, but I did have someone get very upset with me for what she perceived as a negative review (it was a 3 star review with both positives and negatives about the book). One of the big benefits that a reviewer gains when working with a book tour organizer is the separation from direct contact with the author. That extra layer adds integrity because the reviewer doesn’t feel the need to ‘explain’ their review to the author. Having worked with other book tours I know the amount of work that goes into them, thanks for everything you do to support authors.
