About Me

Well, its me Debbie. Just in case you didn't get that from the title of the blog. I am a 50 year old woman who it appears has a lot to say both in the real world and the book world and everything else in between. This blog was originally put together to discuss all things bookish. However, it lay neglected for quite a while. Now, I've decided to wake it up a bit and would like it to be the venue for all the other all between stuff in my head too. It turns out I'm quite an opinionated person! Who knew!? (My husband did apparently)! So, if anyone out there in the big wide world would like me to write an article about a particular subject for their own site / magazine / blog then please do feel free to get in touch to discuss!

In the book world I can also be found pretending to be a knowledgeable person about all things bookish. And, just in case I totally cock that up, I do it under the name of J.B Johnston!

J.B Johnston was my secret identity for a number of years but now its time to come out of the alias closet and let the real me get a look in every now and again!
So, what do I do? Well, lets not focus too much on the day job. So, moving swiftly on............the job I adore doing more than anything in the world is book blogging. I run my own site www.brookcottagebooks.blogspot.co.uk where you can find all manner of book information, book reviews, author interviews  and more! I also coordinated virtual book tours for authors and publishers but have taken a bit of a break from that when I realised that I didn't actually have any time to write my own stuff!   I was also a columnist for Loveahappyending Lifestyle eMagazine and I'd also be really interested in writing for some of the printed mags too. I love it all. So anyone out there who would love to offer me a job then do get in touch!

I participated in NaNoWriMo in November 2015 and again in 2019 and did manage to write a novel both times!  I have contributed to a few anthologies such as Every Child Is Entitled to Innocence  to raise money for Child Helpline International and I write reviews some other sites and co-wrote a children's book called Little Kitty The Cat Burglar to help raise funds for Alzheimers research.  A really worthy cause close to my heart so make sure you go out and buy the book!

In between all the working nonsense and the wonderful book work, I am a wife, mum, step-mum and carer. Oh and dog owner!
